Research Continuity Plan
Research continuity in the event of a COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak.
We want to assure everyone that planning to keep the NJIT community safe and to minimize the disruptive impact on research and related activities has been underway in the event that there is a widespread outbreak in New Jersey.
As part of this preparation, NJIT has created the following research continuity plan. This plan, which would be invoked in the event that we need to close campus for an extended period of time, asks all faculty and researchers to utilize online tools to continue their research and related operations to the extent possible.
Details regarding this research continuity plan will be posted on the research website and updated as needed depending on the severity and duration of the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 outbreak. We will also take into considerations university, state and federal regulations, agency updates on proposal submission and grant management, and institutional access and operations at the NJIT research facilities including core resources, centers and laboratories. The proposal submission, award set-up, contract execution, post-award grant management including billing, invoicing and reporting to funding agencies, and research compliance protocols will be updated and adjusted to accommodate the remote and physical access and availability of the required resources.
In case of a campus shutdown, the Office of Research will continue to provide assistance on proposal submissions, pre-award and post-award grant management, research compliance and operational protocols to the best of our abilities. It is expected that Streamlyne will remain operational for proposal submissions and the following email addresses will be monitored regularly:
- Pre-Award inquiries: srard@njit.edu
- Post-Award financial management: gca@njit.edu
- Institutional Review Board: irb@njit.edu
- Institutional Biosafety Committee: ibc@njit.edu
With respect to the continuation of operations at research facilities, the respective directors will develop specific preparation and access protocols consistent with the institutional operational plan.
All other research-related inquiries during an emergency should be submitted via https://research.njit.edu/inquiry
Please continue to follow our updates available on the NJIT website, the Campus Wide Notification System (CWNS), and via email.
