The Third Annual Greenfest Newark, held at Nat Turner Park on September 21, 2024, brought together the community to connect, learn, and engage in sustainability efforts led by the City of Newark Office of Sustainability and the Newark Green Team. As a highlight of the event, the CNR team from NJIT showcased the essential role of Green Infrastructure (GI) in transforming urban spaces into sustainable, eco-friendly environments.
This year, we focused on innovative, hands-on demonstrations that sparked lively discussions among attendees. Our models, combined with drone visuals, helped illustrate the stages of GI projects—from planning and design to real-world applications. The opportunity to speak directly with community members and field their questions emphasized just how much interest and support there is for these initiatives.

We left a lasting impact, inspiring a greater understanding of green infrastructure and its vital role in Newark’s sustainable future. It was a pleasure to engage with everyone, and I appreciate all the hard work that went into making the event a success.
