Dr. Li presented our works on the enrichment of antibiotic-resistant bacteria on microplastics and the biological treatment of 1,4-dioxane.

Boyuan passed the qualifying exam. It is a major milestone for him as the official transition to a Ph.D. candidate!

Chao passed the qualifying exam. He was able to address many challenging questions. Kudos on becoming a Ph.D. candidate!

Chen Wu successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation on "Biodefluorination and Biotransformation of Fluorotelomer Carboxylic Acids". Congratulations, Dr. Wu! Thank you for your creativity and dedication. Good luck with your endeavor in science!

The group presented one talk and four posters on emerging contaminants, including 1,4-dioxane, PFAS, and microplastics.
June 10-13, ASM Microbe 2022. Washington, DC
Pham and Dr. Li presented one talk and four posters mostly about our research on antibiotic resistance.
June 2-3, ACS MARM 2022. Ewing, NJ
Sumbel and Dr. Li presented two talks on PFAS adsorption by biochar and microplastics enriching antibiotic-resistant bacteria, respectively.
May 22-25, 2022 Chlorinated Conference. Palm Springs, CA
Chen, Jose, and Dr. Li presented four talks and five posters on analysis and treatment of emerging contaminants, including PFAS, 1,4-dioxane, and microplastics. Dr. Li also organized a workshop on "Discovering Biodegradation of Emerging Contaminants for Site Management via Bioremediation".

Dr. Li presented a talk on "Combating Emerging Water Contaminants Using Robust Microbes" at the 2nd Workshop on Emerging Contaminants and Water Treatment Technologies at Totowa, NJ.
August 19-23, ACS National Meeting, Boston, MA
Pham, Jose, Chen, and Dr. Li joined the 256th ACS National Meeting at Boston, MA. With Dr. Natalie Capiro (Tufts University) and Damian Helbling (Cornell University), Dr. Li organized and precided a technical session on "Novel Treatment Approaches for Emerging Contaminants in Groundwater Systems". Dr. Li gave an oral presentation on our new isolate 1,4-dioxane degrader, DD4. Pham, Jose, and Chen presented three posters.

Dr. Li joined the ISME17 conference and presented a poster about the new bacterial enzyme we identified for 1,4-dioxane biodegradation.
