2026 Undergraduate Research & Innovation Symposium | Dr. Paul R. Sanberg at NAI NJIT Innovation Day

The 2026 Undergraduate Summer Research and Innovation Symposium concluded with an inspiring keynote by Dr. Paul R. Sanberg, President of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), followed by the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) – NJIT Chapter Innovation Day awards ceremony recognizing outstanding undergraduate researchers and innovators.

In his keynote, Dr. Sanberg shared lessons from his pioneering career in biomedical research, emphasizing how innovation, intellectual property, patents, and entrepreneurship transform scientific discoveries into technologies that improve lives. He encouraged students to pursue impactful research, embrace mentorship, understand the importance of intellectual property, and develop innovations that address real-world challenges.

The symposium concluded by celebrating exceptional undergraduate research across bioscience and bioengineering, materials science and engineering, environmental sustainability, AI and machine learning, and data science and management. Students received honorable mention, third-, second-, and first-place awards, recognizing excellence in research, creativity, and innovation. The ceremony highlighted NJIT's commitment to fostering the next generation of inventors, entrepreneurs, and research leaders.

NSF ART Student Ambassador Network (ARTISAN) - Undergraduate Student Translational Research Presentation Workshop

ARTISAN, an initiative within the NSF ART program, has been developed with the purpose to connect and involve students attending higher education institutions in translational research, raise awareness to the importance of research and technology translation to use-inspired applications of high societal impact, and enhancing educational experience through innovation and community engagement. This initiative aims to foster a culture of innovative and entrepreneurial thinking, transforming attitudes towards research within the student body that serves the public good, both societally and economically.
