The Elisha Yegal Bar-Ness Center for Machine Intelligence, Signal Processing, and Communications (MICS) at NJIT has developed a five-year strategic plan for 2026–2030, outlining its vision for becoming a nationally recognized center of excellence in intelligent systems research. Building on the legacy of the former Center for Wireless Information Processing (CWiP), the plan expands the center’s focus to address emerging challenges in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and next-generation communication systems.
The strategic plan highlights three core research pillars: Trustworthy AI and Machine Learning, Intelligent Communication and Networking (6G & Beyond), and Information, Learning, and System Dynamics. It also outlines goals for advancing high-impact research, strengthening student education, and fostering collaborations with industry and government partners.
