About MICS

The Elisha Yegal Bar-Ness Center for Machine Intelligence, Signal Processing, and Communications (MICS) is a research center within the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). As the successor to the long-standing Center for Wireless Information Processing (CWiP), MICS is strategically repositioned to address the growing importance of artificial intelligence and machine learning in modern information and communication systems.

The activities of the MICS center are broad and designed to foster a vibrant research and educational environment. Our faculty and students are actively engaged in initiating and –pursuing cutting-edge research in machine learning, communications, and signal processing, while also seeking financial support from federal agencies and industry partners to sustain our work.

In addition to research, the center plays a key role in the educational mission of the university. Our members are responsible for teaching graduate courses in our core areas, and we are committed to recruiting top graduate students and research associates. Our faculty are dedicated mentors to our graduate students, and they are actively involved in teaching and developing new graduate courses in communications, signal processing, and machine learning. To foster a collaborative environment, the center hosts bi-weekly presentations where students can share their research with their peers and faculty.
