High-Energy-Density Laboratory Plasma Science
Funding Agency:
- Department of Energy
The DOE SC program in Fusion Energy Sciences (FES) and the NNSA Defense Program (DP) Office of Experimental Sciences jointly announce their interests in receiving applications for new and renewal awards for research in the SC-NNSA Joint Program in High-Energy-Density (HED) laboratory plasmas. All individuals or groups planning to submit applications for new orrenewal funding in Fiscal Year 2024 should submit applications in response to this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA).
SC-NNSA Joint Program in High-Energy-Density (HED) laboratory plasmas: The High-Energy-Density Laboratory Plasmas (HEDLP) joint program was established following the 2007 report of the Interagency Task Force on High Energy Density Physics (2007): “The Office of Science and the NNSA within DOE will establish a joint program in high energy density laboratory plasmas (HEDLP) responsible for stewarding fundamental HEDLP science within the Department of Energy”.
The specific areas of interest are:
1. HED Hydrodynamics
2. Radiation-Dominated Dynamics and Material Properties
3. Nonlinear Optics of Plasmas and Laser-Plasma Interactions
4. Relativistic HED Plasmas and Intense Beam Physics
5. Warm Dense Matter
