Food and drinks are strictly prohibited in the lab at all times.
Do not enter the lab early unless the instructor is physically present.
Secure long hair and loose clothing when working near moving equipment or machinery.
Wear safety glasses (or goggles) as required for all experiments and procedures.
Report all accidents, emergencies, chemical spills, or damaged equipment to the instructor immediately. (For a serious emergency, dial 9-1-1 immediately.)
Before leaving, ensure your lab station is clean, organized, and tidy.
Be aware of the locations of the fire extinguishers (in Rooms 406T and 407T).
- Equipment & Electrical Safety
Use lab equipment only for its intended instructional purposes.
Do not activate any circuit or apparatus until the instructor has inspected it.
Never touch live circuits or handle electrical equipment with wet hands.
Avoid shorting the electrical leads of any equipment.
Keep all equipment and apparatus away from the edges of the lab tables.
Do not disassemble any apparatus or equipment.
Turn off all unused equipment (excluding computers) before leaving the lab.
- Chemicals & Optics
Dispose of all waste materials properly. Never pour chemicals down the lab sink or drain.
Never look directly into a laser beam or bright lamp used in experiments.
- Computer Use
Do not remove any computer components (including the mouse and keyboard).
Only turn on, shut down, or log into lab computers if instructed by the instructor.
