Continuing education courses (workshops) on “Manufacturing and Mechatronics” were designed, developed, and offered as part of the NJIT Makerspace MaTCH program funded by SBA/DOC (Department of Commerce, Co-PI: Dr. Mohsen Azizi), PACE program funded by NJ-DOL (Department of Labor, Co-PI: Dr. Mohsen Azizi), and ETA/CP program funded by DOL (Department of Labor, Co-PI: Dr. Mohsen Azizi).
Basic Mechatronics: Introduction to programmable logic controller (PLC) anatomy, analog and digital input/output (I/O) ports, memory access, and ladder-logic programming; conducting hands-on experiments that include wiring up push buttons, switches, relays, and LED lights to I/O ports, and programming PLC to read from and write to the I/O ports; implementation of basic math functions, logic expressions, counters, timers, event sequencing and continuous operation; learn how ladder-logic programing is applied through real world scenarios. Designed and Developed by: Dr. Mohsen Azizi
Advanced Mechatronics: Conducting hands-on experiments with industrial actuators (electrical motors, pneumatic devices, grippers, and relays) and proximity sensors (ultrasound, magnetic, and optical); conducting hands-on experiments with stepper and servo motors control; learning about real-world industrial mechatronics applications including conveyors, robotics, and automated factory production lines; learning about testing and troubleshooting procedures.
