Training

A mandatory training plan is in place for users to access any instrument in the laboratory. Requests for NMR training should be sent by email to Dr. Carlos Pacheco. The NMR lab is located at Tiernan Hall, basement B008.

Training

This plan is designed to help those new to NMR understand instrument operation and terminology. To ensure a fruitful training experience, we've designed a plan that links the concepts presented in the training with those covered in the files and videos. By following this plan, you'll be well-equipped to make the most of the NMR training and ready to use the instrumentation.

The essential training consists of the following steps:

Prerequisites for the NMR Training:

  1. Read the SOP for the new 500-MHz BB probe installed in January'23 and the SAMPLE CHANGER (installed in January 2024), which contains more automated steps, streamlining the data collection: SOP for the new BROADBAND probe. 
  2. Read the SOP for the AV-300-MHz instrument.
  3. Read the EHS supplement.
  4. Watch the following videos:

Before starting NMR training, the new user will complete a brief questionnaire based on the above information. The questionnaire will be completed in the NMR lab before training (or via email). If the performance is deemed satisfactory, NMR training will commence.
