Revolutionizing Innovative, Visionary Environmental Health Research (RIVER) (R35 Clinical Trial Optional)

The NIEHS will not consider funding future individual or multiple PD/PI research grant applications from current R35 awardees until the final year of their award; however, the RIVER does not eliminate the eligibility of the PD/PI for the following separate sources of NIEHS funding:
- Grants supporting research resources;
- Program project or center grants;
- Contracts;
- Cooperative agreements;
- Grants supporting training/career development (Institutional or individual);
- SBIR/STTR grants;
- Conference grants;
- R35-eligible supplements (R35 awardees should check R35 eligibility on funding opportunities for supplements).
Application budgets are limited to $600,000 Direct Costs per year. However, researchers with currently funded projects that will be consolidated into the R35 award and exceed $600,000 Direct Costs may request direct costs equal to the sum of the Direct Costs of all consolidated projects plus 10%, up to a total of $750,000 Direct Costs.
