The application will require students to answer general questions regarding their academic focus, research interests, and future plans.
Research Statement
This optional section is recommended to any students with prior research experience. Students should provide a 1 page summary of their prior research experience. This can include area of focus, research methods, challenges, and impact.
Personal Statement
Your personal essay gives you the opportunity to showcase your personality, motivations, experiences, and aspirations beyond what the rest of your application responses have shown us. Take the personal essay as a chance to tell your story, while also demonstrating how you are a good candidate for the U-RISE program. Your statement should be 3 to 5 pages in length, 12pt font.
Interviews
Shortly after applications close, students who are deemed strong candidates based on their applications will be asked to take part in a 10 to 15 minute Zoom interview session with a panel of U-RISE PIs and coordinators. This session will be aimed at getting to know the students' research interests better as well as determine if they are able to commit to the requirements of the 3-year program. Three students will be selected after this round of interviews. All applicants will receive email correspondence regarding acceptance status by the end of this process.
