The York Center provides comprehensive research support to faculty, students, and researchers by facilitating access to advanced instrumentation, assisting with research and technical challenges, and supporting the development of research proposals.

Instrument Access

Students and researchers who wish to use instrumentation at the York Center should contact the laboratory manager responsible for the specific instrument directly. The appropriate laboratory managers and their contact information are listed below.

Before using any instrument, all users must:

1. Complete Forms #1 and #2.
2. Submit the completed forms directly to the laboratory manager responsible for the instrument.
3. Complete any required training and receive authorization from the laboratory manager before operating the instrument.

These requirements help ensure that Center instrumentation is used safely, properly, and efficiently.

Laboratory Managers Responsible for Instrumentation

Required Safety Training

To access instrumentation in the Material Characterization Laboratory at the York Center, all users must first complete the general laboratory safety training provided by the NJIT Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).

Users of the XRD and Confocal Microscope must also complete the applicable specialized safety training: radiation safety training for XRD and laser safety training for the Confocal Microscope. Please contact EHS for information about these training requirements.

Building and Laboratory Access

If building or laboratory access is required for instrument use at the York Center, please download Form #4, complete the request, and email it to Dr. Xianyang Meng at xianyang.meng@njit.edu, with your advisor copied on the email.
