This NASA OSTEM Minority University Research and Education Project – Space Technology Artemis Research (M-STAR) NOFO aims to expand the nation's participation base for competitive Space Technology Mission Directorate research opportunities. Through M-STAR, NASA solicits proposals from MSIs to strengthen and develop research capacity and infrastructure in areas of strategic importance to NASA’s mission and national priorities for STEM Education and workforce development.
Technology is the foundation of space exploration and a driver of the space economy. STMD is shaping the missions of the future while delivering the cutting-edge technology that defines American leadership in space exploration. STMD fosters breakthrough ideas, embraces risk, and fuels a vibrant aerospace economy that empowers both established leaders and emerging innovators. As NASA enters a Golden Age of innovation and exploration, STMD is advancing technologies and testing capabilities at the Moon that will also be critical for future Mars missions.
STMD’s portfolio spans a wide range of disciplines and technology readiness levels, supporting research and development at NASA Centers, universities, national laboratories, small businesses, and in partnership with other federal agencies, commercial entities, and international collaborators. By fostering creative ideas from researchers and innovators across the country, STMD builds a community tackling the nation’s toughest space technology challenges.
