The NASA Innovative Advanced Concept (NIAC) Program’s Phase I Appendix solicits proposals for exploring visionary, yet credible, advanced concepts in the NIAC Program. NIAC’s goal is to “Change the Possible” in aerospace and aeronautics missions. The NIAC Program supports innovative research through multiple Phases of awards. This Appendix focuses only on Phase I proposal requirements and award information. Proposers are advised that changes to this Appendix have been incorporated to clarify evaluation criteria and required proposal content. In addition, prospective proposers should review previously funded NIAC studies to ensure planned submissions are not duplicative of previously funded work.
NIAC will host a virtual forum that will address key aspects of this Phase I Appendix. The date and time for this forum are October 7, 2026 from 1:00-3:00 PM ET. The agenda for the virtual forum and other related information and material, including the link information, will be posted on the NASA Solicitation and Proposal Integrated Review and Evaluation System (NSPIRES) page for this Appendix (https://nspires.nasaprs.com/external/). Offerors are encouraged to regularly refer to this website for updates and other information related to this Appendix. Proposers are encouraged to submit their questions regarding this Appendix by close of business on October 6, 2026 to hq-niac@mail.nasa.gov.
