ARPA-H Funding Opportunities
From the early career to the career-defining
Are you an early career scientist ready to breathe life into a bold research question? A seasoned researcher with a transformative project idea the world is finally ready for? Somewhere in between? If you’re interested in tackling the country’s toughest health challenges, we’re interested in hearing from you. Here's what's next:
Emerging Health Innovators (EHI)
- Asking... What if we trained the next generation in the ARPA model of innovation and bold thinking?
- Next up: Registrations for EHI Proposers’ Day on October 13 close October 12. Learn more and RSVP!
Simulation-augmented, Real-time Platform Adaptive Seamless Trials (SURPASS)
- Asking... What if we could shorten clinical trials from taking more than a decade to less than four years?
- Next up: Registrations for the SURPASS Informational Webinar on October 15 close October 12. Learn more and RSVP!
Unifying Imaging with Quantum Entanglement (UNIQUE)
- Asking... What if one scan could unify today’s imaging — and reveal a new quantum-derived layer of biology?
- Next up: Registrations for UNIQUE Proposers’ Day on October 16 close October 14. Learn more and RSVP!

Recent technological and pharmaceutical advances in healthcare have yielded tremendous improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of deadly maladies, from cardiac and brain disorders to cancers to infectious diseases. Yet a critical problem remains: the lack of “HealthTech” innovations available to all people for sustainable point-of-care, personalized monitoring towards preventive, predictive, and precision healthcare, understanding the onset and progression of pathological conditions, effective treatment and therapeutic intervention, and, more importantly, changing behavior to stay healthy in the long-term. Global healthcare, particularly in under-resourced communities in both impoverished and affluent nations, suffers from limited access to the life-changing remedies many of us take for granted. These disparities are unsustainable in a functioning global society.
In addition, the CTR 2026 P3HI Workshop will feature a Translational Research and Innovation Showcase with the participation of HealthTech researchers and technology leaders from healthcare stakeholder sectors, including academia, medical and clinical centers, industry, federal agencies, foundations, and communities. Personalized medicine is here, and interacting with these innovators will put a fine point on the challenges and opportunities.
You will have the opportunity to meet and interact with researchers, clinicians, investors and industry leaders to explore:
Translational research funding opportunities from NIH, NSF, DHA, BARDA and other public-private funding agencies
Investment funding opportunities from venture groups including Portal Innovations, BARDA, Capital Ventures, Venture Studio and NJ Innovation Hub-The Helix
Opportunities to interact with clinicians and healthcare executives on unmet clinical needs and challenges in P3HI
Opportunities to interact with industry leaders and executives and academic researchers on developing collaborations and partnerships in P3HI
Breakfast and Lunch will be provided. Breakfast and registration will start at 8.00 AM. The workshop will start at 8.30 AM.

Energy debuts new Genesis Mission, quantum computing initiatives: The Energy Department on Thursday unveiled new funding and training opportunities tied to the Genesis Mission — the Trump administration’s push to use artificial intelligence and advanced computing capabilities to accelerate the nation’s scientific research and technological innovation — as well as a new effort designed to further the nation’s quantum computing development. The announcements were made as part of the White House’s AI Science Summit, which the administration billed as an opportunity to push a whole-of-nation approach to leading-edge scientific research and development. As part of the event, Energy announced the launch of a Genesis Mission Graduate Fellowship Pilot — an effort to accelerate American students’ pursuits of doctorates with competency in both AI and other relevant scientific and engineering disciplines. The department said the program, which has up to $100 million in total funding, will include “two high-impact, hands-on research experiences, one at a DOE National Laboratory/User Facility and another with industry.” Energy’s Office of Science also unveiled the selection of 67 early-career scientists to receive a combined $96 million through its 2026 Early Career Research Program, which is designed to help fund innovative research projects. The department said the awardees represent 39 universities, 11 national laboratories and Office of Science User Facilities, and 26 states. More information is posted on the NextGov website.

Tech bills of the week: Transparency in agency AI use; Creating a CISA AI task force; and more: Sens. Gary Peters, D-Mich., and James Lankford, R-Okla., introduced legislation that looks to promote more transparency around the federal government’s use of artificial intelligence systems by requiring agencies to notify individuals when they are “interacting with or subject to critical decisions made using certain AI or other automated systems.” Agencies reported more than 3,600 uses of AI in 2025 in the most recent federally-mandated inventory. Peters and Lankford said the growing adoption of AI tools, including those that engage with Americans, necessitates greater disclosure. The senators’ measure would require the Office of Management and Budget to issue guidance to federal agencies outlining transparency practices to follow around uses of AI and other automated systems. These practices would include requiring agencies to notify individuals when important decisions are made using AI and to provide a redress process for those who receive an AI-determined decision.
